Honua {Earth} A Concert Featuring Derek Nakamoto (keyboards) and Kenny Endo (taiko)

Derek Nakamoto (keyboards) and Kenny Endo (taiko)

A unique approach to taiko, requiring skill and sensitivity, Honua explores realms of sound and imagery not often associated with taiko. Paired with composer/arranger/producer/pianist Derek Nakamoto, the two explore and create music on an intuitive level, share a connection and love for the islands which they celebrate through this music.

Kenny Endo and Keith Terry, a world known master of body percussion started working together since 1980s. This will be a wonderful chance to experience two beautiful and inspiring art forms converse with each other. Also a rare opportunity to see these two master artists perform together in this beautiful Honolulu. Don’t miss this chance!

TAIKO Drum and Dance at Kennedy Theatre

Coming soon to University of Hawaii’s Kennedy Theatre!

Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble collaborates with the UH Dance Program to present a unique performance of taiko and dance pieces. Premiering two new compositions by Kenny Endo (“Midnight Moon”) and Derek Nakamoto (“Threads of Aspirations”), the performance also features pieces by Chizuko Endo, Kirstin Pauka, and Hiroshi Tanaka with choreography by UH Dance Faculty.

February 8, 9, 15, and 16 at 8 pm, and Sunday February 17 at 2 pm.
