Here’s hoping 2012 is better than 2011 and may 2012 be the BEST YEAR EVER!

New Year’s Day in Honolulu was a long one for us……fireworks at midnite (considerably toned down from years past). Then a 7:30 AM performance at DFS in Waikiki and a 2 hour performance at Ala Moana Center Stage with special guests Todd Yukumoto, and Ryoko Oka. A great way to start off the new year!

Lion Dance & Music CONCERT Sat 8.27 & Sun 8.28!

Artist-in-Residence, Kyosuke Suzuki, will be featured in TWO concerts at the East West Center on Saturday August 27 and Sunday August 28! Don’t miss this great opportunity to see one of the TOP lion dance performers in the Tokyo style. Suzuki is one of the top performers of the Wakayama Shachu of Edo Sato Kagura, a flautist, lion dancer, taiko drummer, and a great teacher.

Join Kenny Endo and Taiko Center of the Pacific in the Summer Taiko Intensives at the base of Diamond Head! Intensive short-term study of taiko, and “taiko set,” a form popularized by Kenny Endo. Short-term inexpensive housing and shuttle service also available.

KYOSUKE SUZUKI, master of Edo Kotobuki Jishi, the traditional lion dance of Edo (the former name of Tokyo) and Matsuri Bayashi (Japanese festival music) comes to Honolulu for workshops (August 23-25), and concert (August 27). Details coming soon!
