Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble
The Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble (KETE) features master drummer Kenny Endo on Taiko and Japanese percussion. Synthesizing traditional Japanese music, western percussion, and influences from various cultures from around the world, taiko master Kenny Endo is a leading force in contemporary taiko performance. The Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble performs original and neo-traditional compositions for taiko, fue (bamboo flutes), koto (Japanese zither), vibraphones, and many other instruments highlighting the new dimensions Endo is bringing to an old Japanese art. Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble members are internationally based.
The Kenny Endo Taiko Ensemble has performed throughout the United States as well as in Europe and Japan. They have performed for the Microsoft Global Meeting in Atlanta, the Nihonbashi Theatre (Tokyo), the University of Maryland’s Clarice Center for the Performing Arts. The Ensemble has also been in residency at the Lincoln Center Institute (New York), and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (Washington D.C.).
