This one-night benefit performance brings the camp’s history to life through music\, hula\, dance\, poetry\, and storytelling\, honoring the experiences\, resilience\, and humanity of those incarcerated there during World War II. \nFeatured performers include Jake Shimabukuro\, Kenny Endo\, the Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony\, Halla Huhm Korean Dance Studio\, Hui Iwa Academy\, Jill Togawa’s Purple Moon Project\, and others. Jake Shimabukuro will debut an original composition inspired by Honouliuli. \nProceeds support educational and preservation programs at Honouliuli National Historic Site. \nDoors open at 3:00 p.m.; the performance begins at 4:00 p.m. Tickets start at $35.

Rooted in Japanese tradition and shaped by a lifetime of cross-cultural collaboration\, the trio brings together powerful taiko\, Japanese bamboo flute\, shamisen\, koto\, and voice. \nPerformers:\nKenny Endo – taiko and composition\nSumie Kaneko – shamisen\, koto\, and vocals\nKyosuke Suzuki – yokobue/bamboo flute and taiko \nAdmission is ¥3\,500 with general admission/open seating. DESCRIPTION:Imaginary Homelands: The Concert brings together musicians inspired by Japanese\, Okinawan\, Western\, and local traditions. The ensemble features Kenny Endo\, Norman Kaneshiro\, Derek Fujio\, Brandon Ufugusuku Ing\, and Jesse Shiroma\, blending taiko\, sanshin\, koto\, guitar\, accordion\, teeku\, and other instruments. \nThe Imaginary Homelands Band was formed after Yukie Shiroma invited Kenny Endo and Norman Kaneshiro to explore the intersections of Japanese taiko\, Okinawan sanshin\, Okinawan dance\, and modern dance. For this concert\, the musicians return to the stage without the dancers to perform selections from their recent collaborations along with new solos. \nPresented by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Outreach College\, Monkey Waterfall\, and private donors\, with additional support from the University of Hawaiʻi Department of Music. \nTickets: Patron $40\, Friend/standard admission $30\, and Student $10.
