The Shamisen Experience II: Beyond the Strings celebrates the rich tradition and evolving artistry of nagauta through classical works, contemporary compositions, and Nihon Buyō dance. Distinguished artists from Tokyo and Hawaiʻi will perform alongside the instructors and students of Hawaiʻi Nagauta Samon-kai, highlighting both artistic mastery and the next generation of practitioners.

Guest artists from Tokyo are Kineya Asakichi IV (shamisen) and Kineya Saki III (vocals). Guest artists from Hawaiʻi are Kenny Endo-Mochizuki Taijirō (Japanese traditional percussion), Christopher Yohmei Blasdel (shakuhachi), and Darin Miyashiro (koto).

Free admission. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.; the performance begins at 4:00 p.m.
