Imaginary Homelands: The Concert brings together musicians inspired by Japanese, Okinawan, Western, and local traditions. The ensemble features Kenny Endo, Norman Kaneshiro, Derek Fujio, Brandon Ufugusuku Ing, and Jesse Shiroma, blending taiko, sanshin, koto, guitar, accordion, teeku, and other instruments.

The Imaginary Homelands Band was formed after Yukie Shiroma invited Kenny Endo and Norman Kaneshiro to explore the intersections of Japanese taiko, Okinawan sanshin, Okinawan dance, and modern dance. For this concert, the musicians return to the stage without the dancers to perform selections from their recent collaborations along with new solos.

Presented by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Outreach College, Monkey Waterfall, and private donors, with additional support from the University of Hawaiʻi Department of Music.
